Frequently asked questions

Select a question to expand
What is shadowing practice?
Shadowing means repeating a spoken model as closely as possible. It is useful for practising connected speech, rhythm, fluency, and confidence.
How do I listen to the model sentence?
Select the listening icon next to the sentence. Your browser uses its built-in text-to-speech voice, so no reference audio file needs to be stored by the tool.
What does the browser need for shadowing?
Use a secure HTTPS connection and a browser that supports microphone recording and speech recognition. Allow microphone access when the browser asks.
Can I play my recording after the attempt?
Yes. After the attempt is ready, the result area includes your local recording so you can play it back while comparing it with the target sentence.
How is the comparison shown?
The tool compares the browser transcript with the target text and highlights matched or different words. This is practice feedback, not an official pronunciation or exam score.
Is my shadowing recording uploaded?
This site does not upload the local playback recording or call an application transcription API. Your browser handles speech recognition and may send speech to its own recognition service.
