Frequently asked questions

Select a question to expand
What are Missing word and Whole caption modes?
Missing word hides one word inside the caption so you can focus on a specific listening detail. Whole caption hides the complete caption and asks you to type everything you hear.
Can I replay a caption?
Yes. Use the play or Relisten control for the current caption. You can also change the playback speed from the session progress panel.
How are answers checked?
The tool compares your answer with the expected caption text and shows whether it is correct, along with the current session progress.
What does Show answer do?
Show answer reveals the expected word or caption when you are stuck. It helps you learn, but a revealed answer is not counted as a correct answer.
Can I change the playback speed?
Yes. Select Playback speed in the progress panel to cycle through the available listening speeds for the current exercise.
Where can I see the complete transcript?
Open Review full transcript at the bottom of the exercise to reveal all captions after you have finished or when you want to review the passage.
